She works with pure white porcelain aims to challenge and test the historical preconceptions of the clay. Stereotypically it is thought of as beautiful, precious, smooth and touchable; and within ceramics notoriously difficult to build with. She constructs unstable looking forms which appear to precariously balance and through their fragile structures enforce a feeling of awkwardness upon the viewer. Each layer is like parchment with increasingly difficult, dangerous and sharp edges. Both sketching and the organic process of making itself inform the designs of her pieces. Yet her desire for this body of work has always been to eventually have large scale vessel forms.
